I'm counting the days to have an owner who will take me home and teach me to be the best well-behaved dog in the neighborhood. My rescue group works diligently at finding me a home but I guess most people want small dogs and I don't stand a chance. Please read my bio and consider giving me at least a temporary place to stay snd I will show you what a nice dog I can be if you teach me some commands and exercise me. In return, I will wait for you to come home from a hard day at work and we'll go together to the park and have some fun. I will be your loyal friend and love and protect you. Please take me home.

Lucky's bio...

We need an adult foster home with a dog savy person and good pack leader. Lucky is incredibly sweet and loves to interact with people and be part of the human pack. She loves people including strangers. Lucky is neither food nor toy agressive. She will thrive in a home as the only dog and with people who love the outdoors and are active. She loves to run and would make a perfect jogging companion. But she would settle for a nice power walk in the park if walking, not jogging, is your favorite exercise. Lucky is a VERY happy, playful and energetic dog that can also be very calm and loving. She will make a superb companion for that especial person or couple devoted to the three key essentials to a healthy, happy dog: Exercise, Discipline and Affection.

Lucky's OK with well-matched dogs but should be the only dog -- No cats. She's approx 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old, spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is drop-dead gorgeous with a white soft velvet-like coat with light brow spots and amazing golden eyes. She is a fun lively girl, with a streak of mischief. You will feel like a star when you take this dog out for a walk. Lucky has a million-dollar personality and like all healthy pups, she is mouthy and rambunctious at times. She needs a dog savvy guardian who who can set good direction and is a good pack leader. Please contact us ASAP if you can provide a foster or forever home to this beautiful creature by replying to this post. Lucky is housetrained -- no messes! A foster/permanent home with a yard is preferred but not essential as long as the dog is exercised properly.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://wwwpawleaders.blogspot.com/2008/03/beautiful-american-bulldog-needs-foster.html' title='Hi I'm Lucky! Strays from the Heights has graciously agreed to let me write a few words on behalf of Max, an amazing dog that has yet to be discovered by that very special person with a big heart for homeless dogs.

Max has been a part of my life for over six months now. I fostered him for a short period of time and I got to love this dog as much as my own dogs. Then lost my home and became homeless, and reluctantly had to give him back to the rescue group. Max is being boarded at a nice place where everyone loves him, and he is, at this very moment, sitting in front of me, looking at me, trying to find out what's going to happen to him. Max has outlived one high-kill shelter TWICE, two foster homes (one home with a bi-polar; another home with a musician (me)), three of my relationships, two states, one bread machine, three fans, and the East Village. He may not outlive much more if he doesn't find that very special person he needs soon. When he goes, I will cry, and I will sulk, and then I will pick myself up, call the rescue group, and take another dog. I am my mother’s son, and we can’t remain passive while there are so many good dogs being destroyed every day in our cities.

Please take a good look at this dog. Max is a wonderful dog, truly man's best friend. He's also a dog for ONE owner; two at the most. And he is not a dog for a sissy. Max is sweet, playful, and VERY smart. He loves his toys and to chew on a bone and spends hours with them. Max would make a wonderful running partner or an excellent companion for someone active in the outdoors. Max loves to run around in circles when he gets home from a walk. We hypothesized that this was because he had lived in an apartment that was much too small for him, and running in circles was the only way he could burn his near-boundless energy.

The key to Max's happiness is firm pack leadership. Max is not a dog for someone just wishing to give love to a needy animal, but is rather a dog for someone who will enjoy training his best friend. Max's approx 18 months and 40 pounds, knows some basic commands and is fully housetrained. Max would love a home with a fenced yard to exercise and play in. He'll do best in a home without other dogs -- he's good with friendly dogs but I doubt he's willing to share his owner with another dog. No cats and he likes to chase anything of four legs.

If you meet Max's requirements, please consider meeting this dog.

Pete Wants a 15 Year Permanent Family Plan!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/SAkgXyvi5dI/AAAAAAAAADQ/fFHBsGpG9c0/s320/Pete_closeup.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5190715638651479506" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/SAkgMyvi5cI/AAAAAAAAADI/5HFOINgPhTI/s320/sargent_whole.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5190715449672918466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/R-FVptTn07I/AAAAAAAAABo/zEXZ4kyira4/s400/pete_best2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179515221477675954" />
This handsome boy needs a foster or permanent home with a dog savvy person. He needs a foster home ASAP.

Pete's searching for that 15 year permanent family plan. He's an optimistic people pleaser who prefers to be at your side. He'd like an active home that appreciates his youthful spirit. He's quite lovely with other dogs but can play like a teenager, so bring on the wrestling buddies. And guess what? He loves cats and is gentle with them. Pete is all about F-U-N and K-I-S-S-I-N-G. He has flirt pole maneuvers that defy gravity. While he has a lot of play drive, he settles quite nicely and is more than happy to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie. He's crate trained for his down time and has the right structure and stamina to be your reliable jogging buddy. Pete is an amazingly beautiful and majestic-looking American Staffordshire Terrier / Great Dane Mix pup, with a well-proportioned body and hazel eyes. His coat is a reddish brindle pattern with white. He knows "sit" and "stay" commands and has a good recall. Pete is not a dog for someone just wishing to give love to a needy animal, but is rather a dog for someone who will enjoy obedience training him and who understands the value of being a good pack leader. In return, who ever adopts Pete will have a best friend and a loyal companion -- a great dog. Pete is approx 16 months and 55 pounds, neutered, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped.

The Chance of Your Life: Adopt the Sweetest Dog Ever

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/R-FX0dTn09I/AAAAAAAAAB4/50lJzV4ybZU/s320/Chance_park1b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179517605184525266" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/R-FXqtTn08I/AAAAAAAAABw/S77buRNVl_c/s320/Chace_closeup.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179517437680800706" />
Chance is a prize! Sweet, affectionate, loyal, intelligent, learns everything very fast, and he's certainly not a sissy dog. Has two modes: inside the home he’s couch-potato, lay around the house and nap mode; outdoors, very playful and energetic. He is approx 18 months and 40-45 lbs and has a beautiful light fawn color with big brown eyes and a soft, long muzzle. He loves his knotted rope toy like it was the only one left on earth. He's loyal and affectionate; he wants to be within 2 feet of you, at all times. Though he has never whined or carried-on when left alone, and has never barked inside, not once. He's quiet, well behaved and a lap dog. Chance is house-trained and paper-trained. He's got very short light hair, almost blond, though he does shed slightly. He needs to be walked and exercised, and needs to be around "his" people, though he is perfectly patient and content to just lay around the house waiting for the next adventure outdoors. We play "fetch" inside the apartment too, and he loves it! Chance has free run of the apartment when he's alone, and he hasn't damaged or chewed on anything. Chance is neutered, UTP w/vaccines, microchipped.

My Parents Died -- I Need a New Home ASAP!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/R-FZatTn0_I/AAAAAAAAACI/9y5b1443RLI/s320/hermes_vizsla_CL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179519361826149362" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uUYab1BE-Yw/R-FZTNTn0-I/AAAAAAAAACA/5jTFbGHtTnk/s320/hermes_closeup_CL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179519232977130466" />
Hermes has a new home! Yeah, he is adopted!

One early morning a Brooklyn couple found a puppy in their backyard when they were getting ready to leave for work. Apparently some one who couldn't keep the puppy preferred to leave him in a private yard rather than on the street. When the couple returned from work, they found the puppy still in the yard, sitting next to the back door apparently waiting for the couple to return. The couple put flyers up in the neighborhood and contacted lost & found, but no one came to claim the puppy. This is how Hermes found himself a home and adopted his new family.

During his time with his family, Hermes got to run on the beach, play in the snow, and stroll the streets of Brooklyn. He was always a soulful and loyal companion to the family he had decided to adopt.

Three years ago, Hermes lost his mother to cancer. This past October, his father died after a long battle with kidney disease. Hermes was adored by his parents. But now Hermes has no family and, again, he's homeless.

Hermes was removed from his home in Brooklyn and taken to a kennel because no one could take care of him. Hermes is sad, confused, and lonely.

This lovely Vizsla Mix is approx 10 yrs-old and 50 pounds. He's healthy, tall, long legged, tan & gold in color, with some gray in his face... Hermes is good with people and cats. He's OK with well matched dogs, especially females. He's well-mannered, walks well on leash, doesn't chew but his toys and is housetrained.

Hermes is playful and runs like a gazelle! He loves chasing his ball, ice-cream cones, going bye-bye in the car, and sleeping in his bed! Hermes loves to sit on your lap, not realizing that he's not a tea-cup poodle. If you rather bypass the puppy chewing and craziness and adopt Hermes, a senior but definitely NOT a BORING dog, give us a call ASAP. Hermes will make a splendid companion for the family lucky enough to adopt him.

Hermes is neutered and current on vaccinations. Wouldn't you give this lovely dog a second chance?
